Sodium (Workbench)

Rendering mod ported to a typed native workbench; settings UI is not translated yet.

Description

This is a workbench release. The .hmod contains 36 typed hook stubs generated from Horizon's hook catalog; the Java rendering behaviour still has to be written in Rust. No blocks or items exist in Sodium, so there is no .hmod and the settings screen will not appear until the hooks are implemented.

Workbench
Rust workbench: the native .hmod is 100% Rust source and wires typed hooks, but those hook bodies are still no-ops. The mod's features need a hand-written Rust port.

Rust translation
Artifact language100% Rust source
Hook bindings wired36
Java methods inspected7,074
Behaviour parityNot automatic — hook bodies must be written in Rust

The native .hmod contains zero Java: it is Rust source plus manifests. Automatic translation maps every planned hook, but it cannot rewrite Minecraft rendering or game logic into working Rust. That last step is a hand-written port, and Rustrinth labels it honestly instead of shipping a no-op as “working”.

Size and fidelity
Original Java jar (not distributed)1.8 MB

Rust workbench — behaviour not ported yet. The uploaded jar was inspected and mapped to typed Rust hooks, but its Java method bodies are not translated automatically. A small output (for example 1.8 MB → 20 KB) means the mod is code-heavy: the bundle contains Rust stubs and manifests, not working game code.

Installation

1

Open Horizon

Go to Mods and pick the instance you want to change.

2

Reveal the folder

Use Open folder in the instance menu.

3

Drop the .hmod in

Content bundles go in horizon-mods/. Native Rust bundles go in horizon-native-mods/.

4

Restart Horizon

The first native build downloads Rust and can take 20–30 minutes.

Rustrinth never distributes the original Java jar. Only the ported .hmod artifacts are downloadable.
